What Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana is

Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana is a Maharashtra state pension run by the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance. It is meant for residents who are destitute (no family support, no regular income) or who have a disability and limited family income.

The pension is monthly, transferred by DBT into a bank account in the beneficiarys own name. For most eligible families, it is the largest piece of monthly income and is often paired with the central IGNDPS pension and other state benefits.

How much you actually receive

The amount depends on whether the beneficiary is disabled or in the general category, and how many beneficiaries are in the same family.

Disabled beneficiary (40 percent or more): Rs 2,500 a month, effective from October 2025. This was Rs 1,500 before the revision.

General beneficiary (widow, destitute, orphan): Rs 1,500 a month. If more than one beneficiary in the family, Rs 2,000 a month total for the family.

Where the beneficiary also qualifies for the central IGNDPS (BPL plus 80 percent or more disability), an additional Rs 300 to Rs 500 a month is added by the centre, paid as a single transfer.

You qualify if all of these are true. The destitute and the disabled categories have slightly different proofs.

For general category: destitute (widow, orphan, no family support) or unable to earn a living

Register on Aaple Sarkar (online route)

Sign up with your mobile and verify the OTP. Choose Maharashtra residency proof and complete the basic profile. Then under Social Welfare select Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana.

3

Fill the application form

Enter personal details, family income, disability percentage (with UDID number), and bank account. Mark the disabled category, not general, if you qualify there, the amount is higher.

4

Upload documents and submit

Upload the certificate, residence proof, income certificate, Aadhaar and bank passbook. Submit, the system returns an application reference number, save it.

Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar is strict on the Rs 21,000 cap. If you are slightly above, check Shravanbal (senior citizens) or other state schemes that have higher caps and may suit you.

A yearly life certificate is required at the Tehsildar office or bank. Your disability certificate must remain valid. Otherwise the pension continues without re-application.
